The successor to the Ford Edge could very well be an electric SUV, balancing environmental responsibility with robust performance. These electric options offer reduced emissions and the perk of instant torque, catering to a wide range of preferences.
Compact SUVs Gaining Ground
As the compact SUV market expands, Ford might pivot towards a smaller, urban-centric SUV. Its smaller size would make it ideal for maneuvering through busy streets, yet it would retain enough space and modern features to suit urban lifestyles.

The advance of autonomous driving technologies opens up exciting possibilities. The future Ford SUV could include more self-driving features, potentially elevating the driving experience with enhanced safety and convenience. From adaptive cruise control to lane-keeping assist, these features could transform highway travel, attracting those who value ease and safety.

Good luck with all electric, no one wants them., but keep forcing.
Love the Edge. Sorry to see it go.
I’m in the market to replace my Edge with a new one next year, but Ford has decided to pivot to EV. Good luck with that, just look at the Lightning and the words from your own CEO after a failed marketing campaign during his drive from California to Nevada.
NO ELECTRIC FOR “””ME””””
Why go to three rows? Is it going to eliminate the explorer
We have had two Edge vehicles and love the size, comfort and fuel economy. It seems to be bad business to discontinue one of the top selling models to move toward controversial models that the USA’s infrastructure is not prepared to handle. I have been a Ford owner since the seventies and hate to see this move!
Edge replacement will be named EE for an electric Edsel. Another fitting Ford blunder.
My Edge has 200k and still my daily driver, looking to buy another. Quit messing around with vehicles that we (the consumer) wants. If I want an electric car I will get a Barbie mobile!!
Ford Edge is a great vehicle, my area does not have many charging stations and I am not ready to make an EV commitment.
My wife and I have owned 15 Ford vehicles, 2 of which have been the Edge. We like the Edge very much and disappointed that Ford is discontinuing their production. I will not be buying an EV.
I’m driving my third ford edge. Excellent vehicle. If it ain’t broke why fix it.
My last 2 new vehicles were ford edge. Ford needs a new marketing dept. Make both and see which one sells.
Will never buy another Ford my 2018 edge had engine yay 90,000 miles due to a design flaw Ford knew about and sold these cars anyway engine replacement 9,000 out of pocket even though had extended warranty
I don’t have an edge. I have a Focus and in the market for a new car. There are no charging ports around my area. I don’t want an EV. It’s a shame you don’t have cars now that consumers want to have. I commute. I have been a ford dri er over 30 years and your forcing me to look elsewhere when I don’t want to go.
It’s a mistake dropping the Edge. They should have continued it with a hybrid option. The all electric vehicles are a bust. They were rushed to production. Now they will become expensive junk.
I’ve had five since 2007 and I may 2023 may be my last new vehicle. Ford currently offers nothing I desire.
Disappointed and utterly Disgusted that Ford Edge is being discontinued. Ford got rid of the Taurus and Fusion and now the Edge. Forcing customers into EVs without adequate nationwide infrastructure and improved drive time is plain ignorant and a recipe for failure. Ford CEO is an idiot and needs to go.
Big mistake to replace the edge with an ev. I will be better off going with a different manufacturer. Evs are no good in the areas of the US that have cold winter weather.
I have a 2008 Ford Edge sel and I love it was looking too buy another one just like it please don’t take my Edge away 😢
i love my edge the 6cyl get good mpg using hi way and city 21.3 and looking into a new one but will NEVER buy electric my plate says NVRTSLA for a reason
Keep making the edgr
I don’t know why Ford is getting rid of the edge it’s a popular car there’s a lot on the road biggest mistake for makes. Ford made a lot of big mistakes getting rid of the fusion to escort should bring out another sports convertible car with four makes a lot of mistakes oh also the Taurus was a good seller and four needs to bring these cards back
Another mistake Force doing getting rid of the edge it’s a selling car there’s tons on the road
I’m a life long ford guy, ford is on the verge of turning to another brand, took away my Taurus, then my Transit Connect Van(3 of them), now my Edge(2of them), Sad non leadership
Idiots in the auto industry forgot the electric car market failure in the 1920s. Ford will learn an old lesson.
THE MARKET WILL DECIDE WHAT YOU MAKE, NOT THE MORONS IN GOVERNMENT!
Making a big mistake by down sizing the new suv the edge is a perfect size for the room and to haul things in the back I have one and love it
No electric EVER!!!. We have driven Ford Edges for the last
15 years. If they are no longer available, then I will have to look to other brands. I have driven Ford trucks and cars since the 1966 Mustangs. Would HATE to have to change.⁹
I’ve leased 4 Ford Edges in the last 12 years. Best car ever. No need to change anything. Guess I’ll need to find another company to build the car I need for my family.
Really disappointed to learn I can’t get another Edge, this has been my favorite vehicle. I have bought Ford for 25 years, this is the first time I have to go elsewhere because you have nothing for me. Bad decisions being made.
Yes I agree make a Ford Edge Hybris SUV. I love my 2018 Edge Titanium model. I will hold onto it until builds an Edge Hybrid. Thank you.
Best regards,
Michael P Cyll
Clearly the Edge replacement is behind schedule. It remains to be seen if it will also be in the wrong direction although based on this writeup, that seems likely.
Just purchased 2024 Edge. We love it.
We own 2 Ford Edges and think that they are the best size for us. We an e
Escape but I felt too small for me (6′-2″).
I know the government is pushing the EVs but the public is not sold on them and they are not selling. Lincoln is making the Nautilus in CHINA for heavens sake. Keep making a vehicle the size of the Edge in the USA and forget about EVs that no one is buying.
I really like my 2022 Edge SEL, but… the air temperature and fan speed should be controlled with an old-school dial. Having it within the electronic infotainment screen causes me to take my eyes off the road for a substantially longer time and distance when compared to how long it would take me to use a dial.
I love my Ford Edge, will be sad to see them no longer made. It saved my life in a head on collision in 2013.
Loved my Taurus, and now love both my 2017 and my 2024 titanium. Also love my f150. So once these are no longer road worthy you lose a customer for life. First Mercury let away. And now ford will go away too. Guess I will become a GM guy soon. Not everyone wants a total EV. And you will find that out.
I have a 2019 ford edge st, I like it I use it just highway. I have 15,000.00
Big mistake Ford. I have owned 4 and also have an Expedition. I will shop elsewhere in the future. EVs are NOT the answer.
I can not believe that your company is going to discontinue the ford edge ,when all I see on the road are more edges than ford explorer.
You took away the affordable f150, the comfortable sedans, the real sporty mustang, and now the edge, I have owned 17 Ford’s and now your forcing me to foreign brand, thanks for nothing!
I am on my 6th Ford Edge and am very upset it is being discontinued. I never ever had any problems with any of them. It is a great car and am not a fan of the EV. Big mistake Ford!
Love my Ford Edge. Very disappointed. Will not go EV or Chinese.
But can ford stop f150 lightening from catching fire!
We love our edge sorry to see it go to all electric a Hybrid would be great we live in the mountains electric will not work for us
Very disappointed the Edge was dropped. Was hoping Ford would come out with an Edge hybrid. Now we will be looking at different brands other than Ford.
I’ve had my Edge since 2012 and Nelly is still performing well with 136k. If I get a new Edge it will be a used 2020 or something no EV thanks. If we the consumers could be advocates for keeping the regular Edge don’t make the EV because older people don’t want to have to charge their vehicle. Hey, I’m in my 50’s and don’t wish to charge a vechicle.
I want to switch from Ford F150 to an Edge but now I will focus on a Toyota Highlander. Too bad for Ford … I’d been a Ford guy for many years. But now …
I have a 2019 Edge and I love it. We previously owned 2 Explorers and an Escape. By far the Edge is the best. It’s comfortable, roomy, gets great gas mileage, and is fun to drive. How about a hybrid Edge, I am not sold on an EV. The US doesn’t have the infrastructure to support them. Hybrid makes better sense!!
Love my Ford Edge. 10 years old and still a very reliable vehicle. Thinking about buying a new one buying a new one. Will not buy a all electric vehicle. Maybe a hybrid.
Hybrids much better than all electric. Bring back the Flex ! A Hybrid option would be nice. All wheel drive a must. Make a great car to drive for long trips.
Good luck Ford! I will replace my Edge with a Honda Passport!
I have owned many fords and been happy with them. My next will be regular gas or hybrid “Edge size” If ford doesn’t make one then I’m driving my last ford
So disappointed with this news, truly was looking to see it in a plug hybrid. Best of both worlds. I am on my 3rd edge and can’t imagine any other
